FOR YOUR GARDEN

We offer dahlia tubers, ranunculus corms and other items for gardeners on a seasonal basis. Add some cut flowers to your garden this year!

Dahlias

Here's everything you need to know about our 2025 Dahlia Tuber Sale!

  • All orders are for pick up only, we DO NOT ship.

  • Orders are for pick up from either the farm on Westham Island or from the Trout Lake Farmer's Market in Vancouver on Saturdays between April 26th and May 10th. If you don't pick up your tubers between these dates or get in touch with us, they will be donated to community members on your behalf.

  • This is a pre-sale. We check our tubers multiple times in storage and have built in a reasonable buffer to account for any losses, but it is possible for a variety to become unavailable after it is sold. In this case we'll offer you a refund or substitute. Storing dormant living plant material is tricky business!

  • If you would like an item that becomes sold out, please send through an email and you will be put on a waitlist for it in case we have extras. We will be in touch in late April if we do have them for you.

  • If you would like to purchase a Peony Club subscription, ranunculus corms or dye plants please place a separate order as these items will be ready at a different time than dahlia tubers.

  • If you are registered with us with a florist account, please make sure that you are viewing the correct shop. The top right corner should list 'Online Shop', not 'Fresh Sheet'. You can select between the two.

  • Get in touch if you have any questions! hello@riverandseaflowers.com

Dahlias have been an important flower at the farm since our first season. These blooms come in a huge diversity of colours, shapes and sizes. They produce stem after stem of beautiful blooms from early August till the first frost and are wonderful cut flowers.

Dahlias grow from tubers, a potato-like lump that puts out a growing eye from near where they were connected to the original stem. Each tuber will multiply over the growing season so that when you dig up your plant in the fall and divide it you will have more to plant next year. You can learn more about growing dahlias below.

We would love to see your dahlias blooming, tag them on social media with #riverandseadahlias.

Ranunculus

Every year we save some of our ranunculus corms to plant the following year. Last year we saved some extras so we could share them with you!

Ranunculus are truly magical flowers. Grown from a tuberous structure called a corm, these small shrivelled octopus-like plant bits sprout and grow into blooms with countless layers of lush petals in beautiful colours. While they take a little more attention than some plants to grow, they are well worth the effort.

Check out our growing guide below to see our tips to put you on the road to success with these stunners. Corms are available until the end of March.

Seeds

We have been saving seed of a few specific flower types for our own use at the farm for years and have finally taken the leap into growing seed to share with others.

We joined the BC Eco Seed Co-op in 2024. We started with baby steps and learned a lot in our first purposeful seed growing season and look forward to growing out more in 2025. You can find our seeds for sale online on the BC Eco Seed Co-op website alongside other vegetable, herb and flower seeds produced by other organic and ecological BC seed growers.

Our seeds are also available seasonally at farmer's markets and our online shop. At the moment we have nicotiana and sweet pea seeds available.
